Maria completed her PhD in environmental toxicology and is currently a researcher with Environment Canada’s Aquatic Ecosystem Protection Research Division. Maria has spent the last 10 years in environmental research and teaching, and is an advocate for environmental issues, sustainability and stewardship.
Maria became involved in the Scleroderma Society of Ontario after being diagnosed with diffuse scleroderma in 2006. She is involved with scleroderma support groups in Halton and Mississauga and serves on the Board and Research Advisory Committee for the Scleroderma Society of Ontario.
Maria and her husband live in Burlington Ontario with their 4 year old daughter.
